An omni-channel USSD water bill payment system was introduced, allowing clientele to track their water bills and make payments on their mobile handsets.
The Water Utilities Corporation brand is now a house hold name due to their unique USSD solution. Traffic volumes amount to over 1 million each month registering over half a million pula in revenue for each quarter.
Just Gospel is a singing competition aired on Botswana television. The weekly eliminations and overall winner is dependent on the viewers’ opinion hence the need for an effective solution that allowed a wider audience to be reached.
An SMS Voting solution was introduced and this allowed the viewer to send a key word to a designated SMS shortcode so as to vote for their favourite contestant.
The solution became a key marketing tool for the competition as over 150,000 SMS votes were registered during the course.
A multinational beverages company's USSD based competition is one that is aimed at helping it achieve revenue growth in the organisation, whilst building brand equity. The competition is normally run in different countries across Africa including Botswana; whereby customers in Botswana stood a chance to win different prizes by participating in the competition.
A USSD short code was provided for a 3 month competition. Each time a mobile subscriber bought the multinational beverage company's product during the competition, he/she would have to enter a unique code at the back of the cap to a dedicated USSD short code in order to enter the competition and stand a chance to win.
The multinational beverage company's competition registered over 5,000 competition entrants in Botswana.
